Anita Roddick founded a business that is everything many people around the world wanted: somewhere they can buy branded products without feeling bad about it. Anita does not allow her products to be tested on animals or to use whale fat in their production.
This, actually, shows two things. Firstly, that being green is not only a matter of ethics but a huge demand of consumers, who are ready to pay more for it. And, secondly, that public opinion does not care enough about the environment and slave labour to stop altogether the consumption of goods in which these things happen, but they are ready to encourage a business where people respect their discomfort. And this is a good thing, actually.
However, I do not believe, this is an end, it is more like a path towards thinking new ways to solve the problems that global capitalism have created.
